Measuring Your Savings
While the HotSpot heat recovery system performance
has been fully documented with AHRI testing and is therefore
highly predictable, some customers wish to record and/or
view their actual heat recovery BTU performance data.
Fully automated integrated BTU monitoring systems are
expensive and can often cost as much as a complete, fully
installed heat recovery system. However, HotSpot has
developed two simple, accurate and low cost BTU monitoring
solutions.
One
solution, the LCD Display BTU
Meter, mounts indoors
near your hot water tank and displays instant and cumulative
BTU data. The
other solution is a pure Data
Logger that mounts outside
(in a weather tight housing, attached to the HotSpot
remote unit) and does not have a display, but you can
move the data off of the unit onto a PC to create spreadsheets.
The data logger solution is a semi-automated system,
and holds 30 days worth of data. Significant user
participation is required for the data logger.

Another option is to use the data logger solution
without the expense of an installed flow meter and
save $105. The flow can be calculated, or measured
with an
ultrasonic flow meter without penetrating the pipe.
